Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy approach designed to help people process and heal from distressing experiences, trauma, anxiety, and other emotional challenges. EMDR helps the brain reprocess difficult memories, making them less emotionally overwhelming and disruptive.
During EMDR therapy, clients focus on specific memories, thoughts, emotions, or sensations while engaging in bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, tapping, or auditory tones. This process can help reduce emotional distress, challenge negative beliefs, and promote healthier ways of thinking and coping.
EMDR has been extensively researched and is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD. It is also commonly used to address anxiety, depression, grief, performance concerns, and other issues related to stressful life experiences.
The goal of EMDR is not to erase memories, but to help you process them so you can move forward with greater resilience, emotional balance, and confidence.
